Mr David Bosanquet

Consultant Vascular Surgeon, South East Wales Vascular Network (SEWVN)

David is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon working in the South East Wales Vascular Network (SEWVN), an honorary senior lecturer at Cardiff University and the Associate Medical Director of the Research & Development department in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

His primary research interests include peripheral arterial disease, amputation surgery, wound healing, surgical site infection, aortic aneurysm surgery, collaborative research, and decision making. He has led numerous national and international research projects in these areas, having secured funding from major national funders for these projects. He holds a number of leadership positions locally, nationally and internationally.

Professor Athanasios Saratzis

NIHR Research Professor of Vascular Surgery, University of Leicester

Professor Athanasios Saratzis MBBS, PhD, FRCS, FHEA, is NIHR Research Professor of Vascular Surgery at the University of Leicester and Consultant Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon at University Hospitals of Leicester.
His academic work focuses on applied cardiovascular surgical research, randomised trials, health technology assessment, and the development of complex interventions, particularly in peripheral arterial disease and abdominal aortic aneurysms. He leads several major randomised controlled trials in vascular diseases.
Internationally recognised for his expertise in complex endovascular revascularisation and limb salvage, Professor Saratzis has authored over 200 publications. He has established and led major international vascular research networks, including VERN and RCPAD, and serves on multiple NIHR, NICE, and ESVS committees.

Leigh Ann O’Banion

Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery, University of California San Francisco, Fresno Branch Campus

Leigh Ann O’Banion, MD, is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery, at the University of California San Francisco, Fresno Branch Campus.
Dr. O’Banion received her undergraduate degree in Biologic Sciences from Louisiana State University and her medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. She completed her general surgery residency at UCSF Fresno. Subsequently, she completed her Vascular Fellowship at UCSF. Dr. O’Banion is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in General and Vascular Surgery.
Dr. O’Banion has been a faculty member in the Department of Surgery since 2017 teaching general surgery residents and UCSF medical students. She was recently appointed the UCSF Fresno Director for Faculty Development. She currently serves as chair of the Communications committee of the WVS, as well as a member of the AVF Program Committee.
Her clinical research focuses on limb salvage and outcomes-based research on vascular patients with major amputation. She was awarded the 2021 UCSF Fresno Faculty Research Award. Additionally, she is the founder of CHAMPIONS, an outreach program aimed at providing comprehensive cardiovascular screening and education in vascular deserts across the US in collaboration with the Foundation to Advance Vascular Cures, for which she serves as their medical director.
